About The Aussie Circle
The Aussie Circle is a community and resource site for Australian Shepherd owners. It is run by a fellow owner who shares a home with three Australian Shepherds, so every guide starts from the same question: what would I want to know at 2 a.m. when the dog has done it again?
What we cover
Australian Shepherds are smart, loyal, high-energy herding dogs, and they come with a few things that surprise new owners: a double coat that sheds, an exercise appetite that does not quit, and a habit of herding anything that moves. Our guides are grouped into three areas:
- Shedding & Grooming: coat blows, brushing, bathing and why you should not shave a double coat.
- Training & Energy: exercise needs, nipping, puppy biting, separation anxiety and apartment living.
- Breed Basics & Health: colors, merle genetics and lifespan.
How we write our guides
- Short answer first. Every article starts with a plain answer, then explains the details.
- Named sources. We rely on organizations such as the American Kennel Club, the Australian Shepherd Club of America, the Australian Shepherd Health & Genetics Institute, VCA Animal Hospitals and the ASPCA. Sources are listed at the end of each article.
- Plain health information. We explain what is generally known and when to call your vet. We do not diagnose, and nothing here replaces veterinary advice.
- Corrections welcome. If you spot something wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
The email list
We send one useful email a week about life with Australian Shepherds, and new subscribers get our free Aussie Owner's Energy & Chewing Cheat Sheet. We never sell or rent your address, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
